How long does it take to get GPSR compliant?
Jan 24, 2026
If you’ve been putting off getting GPSR compliant because you’re worried it’ll be time-consuming, full of red tape, or just another admin task you don’t have time for—you're not alone.
RepGuardia work with small business owners every day who are already spinning multiple plates: packing orders, replying to customers, staying on top of their accounts, and doing all the things themselves.
Add a new regulation like the EU’s General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) which was introduced in December 2024 and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We know many small businesses who just said "that's too much for me" and stopped trading in the EU completely.
But here’s the good news: GPSR compliance doesn’t have to be hard or drag on for weeks.
In fact, if you’ve already got some of your safety documentation together, the whole process could take as little as two weeks from sign-up with us, to full approval.
Let’s break down how long each step of the process takes—so you know exactly what to expect and can plan ahead.
Step 1: Sign up and get your templates
Time: Immediate access
As soon as you sign up for RepGuardia’s EU Authorised Representation service, you get instant access to your own client dashboard.
Here's how your dashboard looks:

From there, you can download all the templates you need to prepare your compliance documents.
The documents we include:
-
Risk Assessment and Product Safety Information
-
Product Recall Protocol
- Clear instructions on other safety documentation we need (you can read more about this here)
-
Statement of Compliance (completed at the end)
We’ve made the templates as clear and straightforward as possible. If you’re used to doing paperwork yourself, you’ll find them easy to fill in, and you might be surprised by how much you already have ready.
We even add examples for many different industries (we look after clients with products from digital courses, to board games to clothing to bath bombs) so you can see how it might look and you're not left staring at a blank page.
Step 2: Complete your documentation
Time: Typically 2–3 hours
Most clients complete their documents in two to three hours, using our templates.
If you already have safety info on hand—like product descriptions, instructions, and traceability details—it could take even less time.
We know that sitting down to write formal documentation can feel daunting, but we’ve broken it into simple steps, with examples and guidance along the way. You don’t have to start from scratch or guess what regulators are looking for.
And if something feels unclear, we’re here to answer your questions.
Step 3: Submit your documents for review
Time: Within your control
Once your documents are ready, you upload them through your dashboard.
This part is entirely up to you—some clients submit everything within a few hours of signing up, others take a few days to pull things together.
Whenever you're ready, hit submit, and Lucy (yes, a real human!) will take it from there.
Step 4: Our review process
Time: 10 working days
Lucy personally reviews every single document that comes in. She checks for completeness, clarity, and compliance with GPSR.
If your documents are all in good shape, we’ll let you know they’re approved, ask you to sign a quick Statement of Compliance, and provide everything you need to:
-
Add the correct EU Authorised Rep address to your packaging or labels
-
Share with your EU distributors or platforms
-
Store for regulators if they request it
At that point, you’re officially GPSR compliant.
🎉 That means from sign-up to full approval, the entire process could take as little as two weeks.
What if something’s missing?
Sometimes, Lucy spots gaps or improvements that need to be made. This is totally normal, especially if this is your first time putting safety paperwork together.
In that case, she’ll give you detailed, friendly feedback explaining exactly what needs to be updated. It’s then over to you to make those changes and send them back for a second review.
There’s no extra charge for this—it’s all part of the service.
Step 5: Resubmitting and final approval
Time: Depends on you + 10 working days
How long this takes depends on how quickly you’re able to update your documents. Some clients make changes the same day, others wait a week or two depending on their schedule.
Once you’ve re-submitted, we’ll review everything again within 10 working days and either approve or flag anything else that still needs attention (this is rare if you’ve followed the initial feedback).
In total? You’re in control of the pace
Here’s a quick recap of timing:
-
Access to templates: Immediate
-
Time to complete your docs: 2–3 hours on average
-
Initial review by Lucy: 10 working days
-
Revisions (if needed): Your timing + 10 working days for review
If your documents are strong from the start and you move quickly, you could be fully compliant within two weeks.
If you need a bit more time (because, let’s face it—small business life), that’s fine too. We’re here to support you at whatever pace you’re working at.
Our goal: make compliance simple
We know compliance can feel like another admin task you don’t have space for.
That’s why we’ve made it as fast, clear, and supported as possible. You’ll never be left wondering if you’ve done it right, or whether you’re missing something.
With RepGuardia, you’ll get:
-
Templates written for real small businesses, not corporate manufacturers
-
Examples so you’re not guessing what to write
-
Real human review and feedback
-
Everything you need to get your labels right and trade confidently in the EU
