Richard: Getting back to selling in the EU after GPSR
Richard runs a small product-based business in the UK. He had sold into Europe before, but when the new GPSR rules came in, he wasn't sure where he stood.
He had products. He had customers. But he had no way of knowing whether what he had in place was actually compliant.
He was asking questions most sellers ask at this stage:
- What needs to go on the label versus the packaging?
- Do I need translations?
- Is my risk assessment and safety information enough?
- What happens if customs stop my parcels?
And customs did stop them. He had multiple orders sitting in German and Italian customs, waiting to be assessed, while he tried to work out what to do next.
That's when he signed up for RepGuardia's EU Authorised Representative service.
Lucy worked through Richard's documentation with him. She reviewed his product files, identified what needed to change, advised on translations and where information needed to sit on the label versus packaging, and explained what customs would need to see. RepGuardia became his EU Authorised Representative so he could legally continue selling.
This wasn't a one-off document check. Richard had questions as they came up, and he got answers.
Within a few weeks, everything was in place. Then his parcels started moving. One by one, they cleared customs. His first EU order came through. Then the rest followed.
"I'm so pleased. It's really good to be selling in the EU again and a relief to know the paperwork on the boxes is okay."

Julia: From anxious to approved for shipping
Julia runs a small handcrafted jewellery business. She had just made a sale to Northern Ireland and needed to ship it quickly.
But she was stuck.
She had uploaded her documents. She had worked through the templates. She had pulled together safety information, traceability details, and product descriptions.
But she had no confidence that any of it actually met GPSR requirements. And with a real customer waiting, Julia contacted us.
In her words: "I am so anxious, I am just a small business owner and need your help."
Lucy prioritised Julia's case. She reviewed the full technical file, flagged what needed tightening or clarifying, guided Julia on product identification and traceability, and confirmed exactly what was and wasn't required for her product type.
Once everything was in order, Julia's Statement of Compliance was signed and approved.
The whole process took a matter of days.
"It's fantastic that we are approved and can sell our jewellery pieces to EU countries including NI. We can now ship our order. Thanks a lot for all your help!"
Julia went from anxious and uncertain to ready to ship. That's the shift we work toward with every client.
Lauren Jones, Luminosity Glitter

Eleanor: A product maker needing clarity, not just compliance
Eleanor makes decorative products and wanted to start selling into Northern Ireland. She had signed up, submitted her documentation, and genuinely tried to get everything right.
But several things were unclear to her.
Her products were all decorative. She wasn't sure whether she needed safety certificates for them, or how to handle traceability when everything is made to order.
She told us: "I'm a bit confused, sorry. Each item is a one-off in theory, so a new batch every time?"
These are real questions that come up regularly with makers who produce small runs or bespoke items and at RepGuardia we're used to handling them.
Lucy worked through each point with her. She explained how to handle decorative products without safety certificates, helped Eleanor understand how to approach traceability for made-to-order items in a way that was practical and compliant and reviewed each round of amendments, confirmed what was working, and flagged the one or two things still needed.
Eleanor updated her documentation in stages, checking in as she went.
When she got close to the end, she said: "I think (big emphasis on that!) I have now done all the risk assessments."
She had.
When the final piece was in place, the confirmation from Lucy was straightforward: "Congratulations. You can now trade with the EU and Northern Ireland."
Eleanor had gone from unsure about almost every aspect of her documentation to fully authorised, with a clear understanding of what she had in place and why.
